The study of International Relations (IR) is a dynamic study, which continues to grow and develop with adjustments along with international dynamics. International Relations as a discipline that is most expected to be able to face increasingly complex global problems, inevitably demands to be more interdisciplinary, increasing its role in bridging collaboration across disciplines of social sciences with a global perspective.

Whereas previously IR studies focused only on political, economic and security issues, then entering the era of globalization the scope of IR studies has become increasingly diverse, such as environmental issues, terrorism, and human security.

Based on the above facts, FISIP Unair has opened a study program that specifically studies international relations issues under the name International Relations Study Program. The study of IR, which was founded in 1982 and was originally under the auspices of the Department of Political Science, began to develop more autonomously in 2006 with the establishment of the Department of International Relations. In order to contribute more ideas to participate nationally and internationally in the era of globalization, IR studies play a role that allows it to facilitate the intersection and collaboration of social sciences in a global paradigm.
